Celebrating Frank Lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright is celebrated around the globe for the architectural wonders he created.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of Frank Lloyd Wright’s building for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. Since opening its doors on October 21, 1959, the architectural icon has inspired countless visitors and is widely seen as Wright’s masterpiece.

The Ennis House sold this month for 18M USD, originally asking 23M. Perched atop a hill in the Los Feliz in Los Angeles, the Ennis House is among the best residential examples of Mayan Revival architecture in the country. As with all of Wright’s textile block residences, the Ennis House featured a custom designed pattern. Within the interlocking form, the Greek key design resembles a stylized “g”— perhaps an allusion to the Masonic order that Charles Ennis belonged to, which had an organizational symbol of a compass with the letter “g” for God at its center.
