Historic Homes in Los Angeles

We love new development but also have a strong appreciation for historic homes in Los Angeles. Some of the top historic homes in Los Angeles may be right in your neighborhood!

Greystone Mansion – The Doheny Estate, Beverly Hills

Greystone Mansion, located in Beverly Hills, was built in 1928 for the son of oil tycoon, Edward Laurence Doheny Sr. When the 12.58 acres were purchased by the Doheny family in 1926, the architect Gordon Kaufmann was commissioned to create Greystone. In the 1950’s Mrs. Doheny sold a portion of acres to developer Paul Trousdale. That development is now one of the most desirable locations in Beverly Hills, known as Trousdale Estate. The entrance to visit Greystone is at the base of Trousdale Estates located at 905 Loma Vista Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90210.

The original price to construct Greystone was $3,166,578.12 but remember that was back in the 1920’s. Today Greystone is a landmark owned by the City of Beverly Hills and the grounds are a park open to the public. If the home were to go for sale today we estimate a market price of at least $300,000,000.00.

The Schindler House, West Hollywood

The iconically known, Schindler House, was designed by architect Rudolph M. Schindler in 1922. Schindler both lived and worked in the residence. He is a highly renowned Mid-Century Modern designer who was a partner and rival of Richard Neutra. This historic home is located right in the heart of West Hollywood at 833 N Kings Road and open for tours.
