Holiday Activities in LA

Holiday Activities in Los Angeles

You may not realize it due to the sunny, 70-degree weather, but the holidays are upon us!  We may not have the traditional “White Christmas” that everyone hopes for, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on wintery holiday activities!  We’ve compiled the best that LA has to offer for the holidays.

Ice Skating!

Who cares that the temperature will never dip below freezing!  You can still glide across the ice with the grace of an Olympic figure skater.

Christmas Lights!

There is nothing that will raise your spirits more than an elaborate holiday light display!  You may ask yourself, “what are the very best places to check out lights in LA?” Well wonder no longer!

Upper Hastings Ranch:

 Upper Hastings Ranch

The sloping grid of ranch-style homes in Upper Hastings Ranch is a scenic spot in its own right, but its legacy rests in the decades-old holiday display coordinated among homeowners. Each block of the Pasadena neighborhood decorates according to a different theme; one street might be lined with light-up candy canes while another is flanked by an army of inflatable Santas. After an official lighting in early December, you can cruise around the twinkling foothill community until the new year.

Location: North of Sierra Madre Blvd and east of Michilinda Ave (Pasadena)

Boat Lights:

Marina Del Rey

From Marina del Rey to Newport Beach, the waters off the Southern California coast sparkle with lights as festively decorated boats parade through the night. Some cities have just one parade, Long Beach has two different ones and Newport Beach and Dana Point run the same parade on multiple nights.

Caroling!

The Magical Christmas Caroling Truck

There is nothing quite as quintessentially Christmas as caroling. Since 1984, the sixty-two-foot tractor-trailer, adorned with magnificent Christmas scenes and thousands of sparkling lights, has been spreading Yuletide cheer in the neighboring communities. Over 200 singers and dancers, accompanied by a 20,000-watt sound system, serenade local residents with Christmas carols.
